Dating not the Action

Despite everyone knowing the exact period of the Regency (1811-1820), there is a tendency amongst the Regency Romance authors community to get their chronological time-lines in a twist. This may well be 'artistic license'. If it is ... do please say so, otherwise at best you'll have disgruntled readers, at the worst a highly visible Rant.

I'm not going to provide counter entries in the Raves for all Rants. Nevertheless, this Rant does deserve a Rave, which goes to all those authors who kindly mention the year in their Prologue and the year in their opening chapter - particularly when their tale refers to, or revolves around, a particular event - the military actions at Corunna, Talavera, Badajoz, Salamanca, Toulouse and Waterloo all feature strongly, as does the Congress in Vienna.
