Within the Regency Romantic genre, I prefer stories with a high degree of fidelity to the historical environment. Sub-genres involving magic, vampires, dragons and alternative histories do not appeal to me, for which reason the authors (and their books) of 'unappealing' sub-genres will not appear here (probably to their relief).

I first discovered Regency Romance through Georgette Heyer. As a schoolboy when facing 900+ pages of War & Peace for an English Literature O-level exam, I taught myself to speed-read. The books I used to perfect the skill were Georgette Heyer's.

I stumbled back into the genre of Regency Romance via Amazon and the 'Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought'.

The initial lure was Lucinda Brant's crimance series, which lead me to the confusingly authored (almost worthy of a RANT) Gardner, Ashley & Ashley, Jennifer // Ashley, Jennifer & Gardner, Ashley 'Captain Lacey' series and thence to the 'Incomparable' Kate Harper.

I can spread my reading budget across a few 'quality' - expensive titles ($9.99+) or numerous cheaper titles. As I can devour two to three 250 page Regency Romances in a day, the latter strategy is eminently preferrable. So, with very few exceptions the e-books in my collection cost less than $9.99.
